A leading digital media company based out of New Delhi needed writers to re-package stories for their news portal. The news portal publishes a news article within moments of it making the headlines of prominent news channel which clearly shows how prompt the services of this news website are. More than 30 news articles were completed on a daily basis by our writers. Two writers were assigned the task to write content for the web portal from 10 in the morning to 6 in the evening. Myriad topics were covered – sports, entertainment, science and technology, current affairs of national and international importance to name a few. An editor allocated work on a daily basis via email, sending more than 15 different links spread in three parts which arrived at a gap of 2-3 hours. The news articles were repackaged without falling short of the important covering information in the original article. The articles were both short and long depending on the length of the original news article. They were written in a lucid and easy flowing language which can be easily understood by its readers. The major challenge faced during the assignment was time constraint. The writers had only 30 minutes to work on a single news article whose length varied from 400 words to 3000 words. Due to urgency of the work, the writers were only allowed two leaves every month and sometimes had to work on holidays also. We had one or two back up writers to continue the work if any of the two authorized writers were not available. Without the luxury of slowing down or stopping, each writer rewrote 4000-5000 words every day without compromising on the quality.
